another clark update
Well Clark is cutting his third, fourth, and fifth teeth! He is quite the drooler these days. He is saying "Da-da-da-da" all day long, very loudly, and Audrey has also taught him to wave bye-bye.
Still only army-crawling but he is an expert at it! He is so efficient I guess he doesn't see the need to use his knees.

Audrey speaks
I'm trying to be better about capturing more every-day things with the kids, so I thought you might enjoy some Audrey-isms.
- "bree-zuh" for zebra
- "I help make-uh the bed."
- anytime Clark cries, it's for one of two reasons: "Oh, he's scared of lions." or, "Oh, Clarky wants his Pop (Shannon's dad)."
- "Oh, that clock!" This is from Cinderella and she says it to express frustration at anyone or anything.
- "Let's get some snugglin!" This is invariably the second thing out of her mouth when Josh gets home from work, following, "Welcome home!" She makes us all jump in the bed for some "snugglin'."
- "Can I please have a blue ah-bar?" This means a granola bar in a blue wrapper (as opposed to the ones in the green wrappers which do not contain chocolate chips).

A star is born.
Here's Audrey singing an original song. As you can see, she sings best with continuous applause from the audience. In the background you can check out her new awesome kitchen from Bebe and Pop.

A nasty new habit...
Much to our dismay, Audrey has started experimenting with lying. Luckily she is not very good at it.
Yesterday she was upstairs playing alone in her room and I heard her go into the bathroom and start messing around in there. She knows that washing her hands by herself is not allowed--she makes a huge mess and either uses no water at all (just soap) or so much water that she looks like she took a bath. So I headed upstairs to investigate.
She heard me coming and ran downstairs. When she saw me she said, "It's not soap, Momma, it's cereal on my hands," showing me her hands coated in a clear, soap-smelling goo.
I said, "Are you sure? It looks and smells like soap. Before you answer me, tell me, what happens when you tell a lie?"
She stuck her bottom lip out and recited, "Big trouble."
"And what happens when you tell the truth?"
"Mercy." (I stole this from an Angela Thomas video I saw this summer--works great!)
"So, do you want to tell me again what's on your hands?"
She blurted out, "it IS soap, Momma! Will you 'give me Momma?" Translation: Will you forgive me?
Of course I melted on the spot. Josh and I have discussed this and we have decided that it's scientifically impossible not to melt when she says this.

Congrats (again!) Pop!
Yesterday Bebe and Pop flew to Washington for Malcolm to accept another award...this time the Attorney General's award for Distinguished Service for his work prosecuting a company intentionally dumping sludge.

Handsome Son
It may just be me but I think Clark is getting more handsome with each day. He had his hair styled for the first time recently. The only hair he has is in strip in the center of his head, so he wore a faux-hawk to a recent church event. Needless to say, he was a star of the party and looked very emo.

Gigi time
We got a visit from my parents before their two week trip to the Pacific Northwest. After seeing Clark get a bath, Audrey insisted on getting in the sink.
Today, I was off work and we went to the zoo. Audrey was extremely excited. She tried to wake Shannon up and even tried to put her shoes on for her in bed to get her ready to go to the zoo.

Night-night.
Audrey's favorite activity continues to be to put her toys and dolls to bed. I find something similar to this all over the house every day, several times a day. As you can see she is using baby wipes as sheets in this pic, but she is extremely resourceful and has used anything she can find to tuck them in. I'll try and find a picture of when she took a $20 bill out of my purse to use as a blanket.
I love my grandmoms.

Future Art History Major?
Today we were watching a show that had this painting on the set. Without missing a beat Audrey said, "Look! They have the picture at Bebe and Momar's house!" Sure enough, it was The Fairy Tale, which hangs both at my mom's house and my grandmom's house. We looked online at some other art and she was able to pick out two other Mary Cassatt prints she recognized from the Bales House.
