Christmas Eve

To all of those who call me every week (you know who you are) about updates, I'd like to present fresh pics hot off the press. We went to our Christmas service at church tonight and then we had our good friends, the Cartwrights. over for dinner. The girls even sang happy birthday to Jesus.

Christmas Program

Audrey had her Christmas program at her school this past week. She sang "Jingle Bells," but quickly quit singing after she spotted us in the crowd.

With Dad

I look forward to the weekends starting on Monday morning. Don't misinterpret that as me not liking my job because I do love what I do and the Lord has graciously placed me in the perfect job, but I just look forward to spending time like this.

another clark update

Well Clark is cutting his third, fourth, and fifth teeth! He is quite the drooler these days. He is saying "Da-da-da-da" all day long, very loudly, and Audrey has also taught him to wave bye-bye.

Still only army-crawling but he is an expert at it! He is so efficient I guess he doesn't see the need to use his knees.

Thanksgiving

We were able to spend Thanksgiving with both of our families this year which worked out great. Clark now says "Da-da". He is getting around pretty well with his army crawl and has yet to figure out how to use his feet.

Audrey speaks

I'm trying to be better about capturing more every-day things with the kids, so I thought you might enjoy some Audrey-isms.

- "bree-zuh" for zebra
- "I help make-uh the bed."
- anytime Clark cries, it's for one of two reasons: "Oh, he's scared of lions." or, "Oh, Clarky wants his Pop (Shannon's dad)."
- "Oh, that clock!" This is from Cinderella and she says it to express frustration at anyone or anything.
- "Let's get some snugglin!" This is invariably the second thing out of her mouth when Josh gets home from work, following, "Welcome home!" She makes us all jump in the bed for some "snugglin'."
- "Can I please have a blue ah-bar?" This means a granola bar in a blue wrapper (as opposed to the ones in the green wrappers which do not contain chocolate chips).

Inflatable Funland

We had a great time when Gavin and Jeremiah came to meet us at Inflatable Funland. Actually, I think Jason is the one who had the most fun out of everyone.

Cinderella

Audrey is fascinated with Cinderella right now. Not only does she ask me to dance with her like the dance at the ball but she fulfills all the roles. Here's our little Cinderella washing dishes in her new kitchen.

New Swing Position

This is the pose that Clark now uses when he sleeps in his swing. Needless to say, I buckle him in now.

A star is born.

Here's Audrey singing an original song. As you can see, she sings best with continuous applause from the audience. In the background you can check out her new awesome kitchen from Bebe and Pop.

Pumpkin Patch

Audrey and her friends went to a Pumpkin Patch. Audrey was beaming when she showed me her pumpkin for the first time.

A nasty new habit...

Much to our dismay, Audrey has started experimenting with lying. Luckily she is not very good at it.

Yesterday she was upstairs playing alone in her room and I heard her go into the bathroom and start messing around in there. She knows that washing her hands by herself is not allowed--she makes a huge mess and either uses no water at all (just soap) or so much water that she looks like she took a bath. So I headed upstairs to investigate.

She heard me coming and ran downstairs. When she saw me she said, "It's not soap, Momma, it's cereal on my hands," showing me her hands coated in a clear, soap-smelling goo.

I said, "Are you sure? It looks and smells like soap. Before you answer me, tell me, what happens when you tell a lie?"

She stuck her bottom lip out and recited, "Big trouble."

"And what happens when you tell the truth?"

"Mercy." (I stole this from an Angela Thomas video I saw this summer--works great!)

"So, do you want to tell me again what's on your hands?"

She blurted out, "it IS soap, Momma! Will you 'give me Momma?" Translation: Will you forgive me?

Of course I melted on the spot. Josh and I have discussed this and we have decided that it's scientifically impossible not to melt when she says this.

Molly's Birthday

Molly turned one and had a great birthday party. She has been a wonderful addition to our family and a real blessing. Audrey is absolutely crazy about her.

On a side note, I do think Molly is training to be a competitive eater. It's unbelievable how much she can eat.

Cousins

Audrey still loves Molly just as much as she did a year ago.

Congrats (again!) Pop!

Yesterday Bebe and Pop flew to Washington for Malcolm to accept another award...this time the Attorney General's award for Distinguished Service for his work prosecuting a company intentionally dumping sludge.

Our Camera is back

We finally received our lens to our camera. So we are back in the picture taking business. Clark slept through the night last night, which is a first. Hopefully he enjoyed it so much that this trend will continue.

In this picture, Audrey sure looks like she's up to something.

Handsome Son

It may just be me but I think Clark is getting more handsome with each day. He had his hair styled for the first time recently. The only hair he has is in strip in the center of his head, so he wore a faux-hawk to a recent church event. Needless to say, he was a star of the party and looked very emo.

Gigi time

We got a visit from my parents before their two week trip to the Pacific Northwest. After seeing Clark get a bath, Audrey insisted on getting in the sink.
Today, I was off work and we went to the zoo. Audrey was extremely excited. She tried to wake Shannon up and even tried to put her shoes on for her in bed to get her ready to go to the zoo.

cute pic

I think Clark looks pretty cute here, a little alarmed, maybe, but precious.

Night-night.

Audrey's favorite activity continues to be to put her toys and dolls to bed. I find something similar to this all over the house every day, several times a day. As you can see she is using baby wipes as sheets in this pic, but she is extremely resourceful and has used anything she can find to tuck them in. I'll try and find a picture of when she took a $20 bill out of my purse to use as a blanket.

I love my grandmoms.

Bebe came in to see Audrey and Clark a few weeks ago, followed by Gigi the next wknd! Audrey loves company and cries hard when they leave. "Bebe again! Gigi again!" "I want to go to Nacogdoches too! I want Gigi make gumbo."

busy bee

Here's a clip of Audrey singing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star when she suddenly remembers she would rather do an exercise video.

Baby Einstein

Clark is quite the baby genius. I asked him where the lion was and this was his response.

Poor Clark pt. 2

Here is Audrey and her friend Isabella smothering Clark. They had good intentions of giving him snuggling as Audrey puts it. The other pic is of Audrey acting like a monkey. Everyone that has ever been to our house please note that the bed is made.

Future Art History Major?

Today we were watching a show that had this painting on the set. Without missing a beat Audrey said, "Look! They have the picture at Bebe and Momar's house!" Sure enough, it was The Fairy Tale, which hangs both at my mom's house and my grandmom's house. We looked online at some other art and she was able to pick out two other Mary Cassatt prints she recognized from the Bales House.

Bye Mom!

Audrey just walked by early this morning and said, "Bye Mom! I go buy tikas (tortillas) at HBG (HEB)."

Clark video

Clark is quite the talker now...here's a quick clip.

The Lower Lip

Shannon has taught her pupil well with the lower lip trick. It pretty much gets both of them anything they want.

Grandpa's Birthday

We were in Beaumont to celebrate Grandpa Morrison's (aka Da-da) birthday. Here's some great pics of Audrey after giving butterfly kisses to Gigi and snuggling with the birthday boy.

I think Jacob took most of these pics. Maybe he'll follow in dad's footsteps into photography.
